HISTORY OF TAJIKISTAN
For the first time the Tajik nation adopted the state system at the end of the 9 – 10th centuries. The independent state of Samanids was created, there was rapid development of economy, culture. Prominent scientists and thinkers such as Abuali ibn Sino (Avicenna), poet and philosopher Omar Hayam, the founder of Tajik poetry Rudaki, the great poet Firdavsi and others were living and working in Central Asia during this period.
The Samanid’s state fell at the end of 10th century under the attacks of nomadic tribes and at the beginning of 13th century it was conquered by Mongols. During the 14th and 15th centuries the territory of the modern Tajikistan became a part of the Timur state and his descendants. In the 16th century Tajikistan became part of Bukhara Khanate. In the second half of the 19th century the Central Asian Khanates were added to Russia.
After the formation of the USSR the Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (ASSR) was formed as part of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic in 1924. In October of 1929 Tajikistan from the Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (ASSR) was transformed into the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR). In October of 1929 Tajikistan from autonomy was transformed into the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR).
Most economic development occurred during the 1950s and 1960s. During this period the essentials of modern industry, agriculture, and industrial and social infrastructure were put in place.
September 9, 1991 – date of counting the newest history of Tajikistan. The Declaration of state independence was adopted.
November 6, 1994 – the new Constitution of RT was adopted at the national referendum. Simultaneously presidential election was conducted.
1997. On June 27 in Moscow General Agreement on peace and national armistice between government and united Tajik opposition is signed.
1999. September 9 Tajikistan had celebrated 1100 anniversary of the Samanids state – the first state of Tajiks.
September 21, 2001. The official ceremony for completing part of the road Murgab – Kul’ma that connects road Dushanbe – Khorog with the Karokorum highway. For the first time in it’s new history Tajikistan had got the alternative exit to Indian ocean via China.
December 2002. Convergence of Western countries with Tajikistan. The first official visit of the President of RT to USA and France had taken place.
2005. State committee for protection of state boundary of Tajikistan had accepted from Russian border guards the last part of Tajik – Afghan border.
2009. In February the President of the country had a business visit to Baltic states. 12th February the declaration of cooperation between Lithuania and Tajikistan was signed.
