Regional theater of musical comedy named after Ato Muhammejanov was put into operation today, August 25, in Kurgan-Tyube with the participation of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon. As reports a press-service of the President of the RT, a new theatre was built for over 26 million somoni of budgetary funds; its capacity for 800 people. The President praised the quality of construction and called the new cultural object a worthy gift to the creative team for the 25th anniversary of the state independence of Tajikistan.
DUSHANBE, June 17, 2017, Asia-Plus -- Battleship Potemkin by Sergei Eisenstein will be demonstrated in Dushanbe’s Dom Kino (House of Cinema) tomorrow at 5:00 pm. The demonstration of the movie is organized by the Satyajit Ray Film Club. Battleship Potemkin, sometimes rendered as Battleship Potyomkin, is a 1925 Soviet silent film directed by Sergei Eisenstein and produced by Mosfilm. It presents a dramatized version of the mutiny that occurred in 1905 when the crew of the Russian battleship “Potemkin” rebelled against their officers.
DUSHANBE May 17, 2016, Asia-Plus – The fifth international youth theater festival, dubbed “Nigohi Nav” (New Vision), is taking place at the Youth Theater named after Mahmoudjon Vohidov in Dushanbe form 16-20 May. One of organizers of the festival says youth theaters from three countries, including Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, are participating in the festival. Tajikistan is reportedly represented by four troupes, Kazakhstan is represented by two troupes and Kyrgyzstan is represented by one troupe.
DUSHANBE, May 16, 2016, Asia-Plus – The 7th international conference of experts on intangible cultural heritage from the countries of Central Asia and the Pacific kicked off in Dushanbe today, according to the Ministry of Culture (MoC). An official source at a MoC says representatives from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan are participating in the event that will run until May 18.
DUSHANBE, May 11, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Ministry of Culture (MoC) says the troupe of the Theater of Russian Drama named after Vladimir Mayakovsky will be temporarily placed at the State Academic Theater of Tajik Drama named after Abulqosim Lohouti. “The Mayakovsky Theater will stage its plays at the Lohouti Theater until the “Tajikistan” Movie Theater, provided for the Mayakovsky Theater, is repaired,” Anvar Rajabov, an official with a MoC, told Asia-Plus in an interview. Meanwhile, the building of the Lohouti Theater will also be demolished in the future.
DUSHANBE, April 29, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Ministry of Culture (MoC) says that not fifteen but only four sites in Dushanbe are considered to be of historical and architectural significance. “These sites reportedly include the building of the Opera and Ballet Theater, the building of the Parliament, the Ismoili Somoni Memorial Complex (1999), and the Ancient Settlement of Dushanbe (3rd Century BC),” Sherali Khojayev, chief specialist with the MoC Department for Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage, told Asia-Plus in an interview yesterday afternoon.
DUSHANBE, April 20, 2016, Asia-Plus – An official opening of Days of Indian Culture in Tajikistan will take place at the Opera and Ballet Theater named after Sadriddin Ayni in Dushanbe today evening. According to the Ministry of Culture (MoC), the Indian delegation comprises 40 people, including musicians and theater actors. The event will reportedly run until April 26. While in Tajikistan, members of the Indian delegation will visit cultural centers of Tajikistan such as the National Museum of Tajikistan and the National Library of Tajikistan.
DUSHANBE, April 19, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Persian Parade took place in New York City on April 17. According to Persian Parade Foundation, the parade took place on Madison Avenue between the 38th Street and the 26th Street in New York City. This year, Tajiks together with other Persian-speaking peoples joined the Persian Parade in New York.
DUSHANBE, April 8, 2016, Asia-Plus -- As a part of the U.S. Embassy Cultural Program, with the support of the U.S. State Department Bureau on Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with American Voices, the American musical group The Exchange will visit Tajikistan from April 11-17, 2016. The U.S. Embassy is sponsoring a free concert in Dushanbe on April 16 at 16:00 at the VEFA Center Concert Hall. Tajikistan will be the final country on The Exchange’s Tour to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
DUSHANBE, April 1, 2016, Asia-Plus – The Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan in collaboration with the National Museum of Tajikistan will organize an all-republican action, Museum Visit Day, on April 3. The press service of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs says all museums across the country will be free entry. The action is reportedly organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.
