TAJIKISTAN IS STARTING THE EXPORT OF TECHNOLOGIES

Afghanistan celebrated New Year with Internet. The first Internet Service Provider in Kabul was created by Tajik company "Babilon-T". To find out how Tajik company became the founder of Internet in Afghanistan, the correspondent of "Asia-Plus" visited "Babilon-T" company.

How it happened that Tajikistan started exporting the newest technologies in the field of telecommunication services.
A small excursion to history. The beginning of Internet development in the world contemporized with the time of tragic events in Tajikistan; this led to the lack of interest of investors to Tajikistan. Along with this, Internet began hastily developing in all neighboring states. Lack of investors and increasing need in information flows made Tajik companies develop a technology of Internet service provision. Cost of technological equipment for Internet Service Provider (ISP), developed by Tajik companies, was lower than the proposed western analogues, but in its technical and characteristics and productivity it was not worse. Particular features are that Tajik companies use equipment with efficiency of 70%-90%, along with this the efficiency of the used equipment grows up to 100% during 1 year. During this year information technologies and equipment change to such a degree that the bought equipment becomes incapable to work according to new technologies and becomes older morally. Having such technology, ISP renews its equipment and always uses modern elaborations in the field of information technologies.
Also geography of Tajikistan and its geographical location in Central Asia do not allow to develop hastily production powers and economy as a whole.
All these factors and favorable conditions, created by Tajik Government for business development, and support of the President of Tajikistan Rakhmonov Emomali Sharipovich to Internet development in the republic, became the reason of quick progress of telecommunication companies with their own technologies in telecommunication. One of these companies became the young national telecommunication company "Babilon-T". From the very beginning of its development, "Babilon-T" started promoting progressive telecommunication technologies in Tajikistan, started training national young personnel, having created a free-of-charge School of Information and Telecommunication Technologies for pupils, in cooperation with Children's fund "Osheni Baland" after M. Tursun-Zoda.
For a short period of time Tajikistan became ahead of its nearest neighbors in technological innovations, and telecommunication industry stated stimulating development of other branches of economy.
After stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan, Internet became one of the primary needs of Afghans; the first Afghan company, that acquired the license on Internet providing in Afghanistan, announced a tender on creating the first ISP on a turnkey basis. For realizing this project and participating in this tender, the largest telecommunication companies from the whole world made their proposals. Among the applicants for tender there was also Tajik company "Babilon-T". It was a pleasant unexpected surprise for "Babilon-T", when Tajik company was announced to win the tender. For a month "Babilon-T" specialists wholly projected, provided equipment, implemented assembly, starting-up and adjustment works, and trained personnel of the Afghan company in providing Internet services. Afghan company was very pleased with the work of "Babilon-T", and is going to continue cooperation in this field.
Companies from CIS countries are interested in many technologies, developed by "Babilon-T" specialists; this testifies the large potential of Tajik companies in the sphere of telecommunications.
Governance of "Babilon-T" company expresses a special gratitude to ACTED organization for their immense help in project realization in Afghanistan.
