FOREIGN POLICY AND EXTERNAL TIES
After the promotion of independence was taken a new step in the foreign policy of Tojikiston which is connected with peace-loving traditions of tojik people.
The present foreign policy of Tojikiston is based on the foundation and development of mutual benefit of equal rights and contacts with all states, contribution for strengthen of peace and international security.
The foreign policy of Tojikiston is determined by it's geographical position and some other factors. The Republic has just been accepted as equal member into international and regional unions.
Republic of Tojikiston is an active member of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Central Asian Economic Alliance (SAEA), Organization of Economic Cooperation (OEC) and Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
It's sovereignty is admitted by lots of countries of the world. Tojikiston advocated to put an end of bloodshed for peaceful civilized decision the disputes and conflicts, for searching the ways of mutual understanding and compromises.
The basis of development of the external economic activity of Tojikiston consists of it's considerable export potential.
The main export production are weaveal branches, transformers, luminary technical wares, concentrates of the alloyed metals, cottonfibre, silk and cotton fabrics, carpet wares, fruits and vegetables, tinned goods, vegetable oil and so on.
Now there is going the process of renewal and structural reconstruction of economy, reform of bank system and tax, privatisation is developing, marketing is extensing. Tojikiston comes forward for accelerated development of foreign economic relations in all forms, for attraction of foreign investment to exploit of mineral and material resourses, creation of joint production (industry, works) and enterprises, in all spheres of national economy.
The basis principles and legal norms of foreign activity of republic are determined by law. On the territory of Tojikiston 224 joint venture are registered. The fields of activities and geography of them are extensive. Thus, in Tojikiston fruitfully work the Tajik-British JV "Zarafshon", Tajik-South Korean "Kabool Textiles", Tajik-American "Khujand", Tajik-Chines "Rishta" and many others.
According to the law "About foreign invests in Tojikiston" foreign invests can't be nationalized or confiscated except special cases which are foreseen by law.
In case if there is a confiscation the foreign investor is payed equal and affective compensation.
Activity of various firms is regulated by the law of "Enterprises in Tojikiston". The law regulates all the economic and social uses, public activities, reorganization and liquidation of activities of all forms property (also in trade).
Tojikiston is the member of International Monetary Fund, World Bank, the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Asian Bank and Islamic Bank of
Development.
